Hello:
Peter Benner here….board member for CHCR.
CHCR is now organizing its move to the downstairs space at 14 Lake Street. We are quickly designing a sound proof space for our control room, and encouraging those who wish to participate, to help us move furniture, records and other fixtures, into the space below our present location. This process will start after the weekend, continuing during the day, evening and into next weekend. If you are available, eager and willing to help lend a hand, please let me know and I will schedule you in accordingly. If you have carpentry, electrical or plumbing skills, have materials and time you wish to donate or volunteer, we’d love to hear from you!
If you’re a musician, send us some of your original music.
If you’re wanting to have your own radio show, come on in!
If you want to listen to eclectic music, viewpoints and spoken word on a diverse range of topics, we’re on 102.9, 104.5 FM, and http://www.chcr.org (back up and on the Net in a few days at the most).
If you are a service organization and want to publicize something, please let us know.
If you are a business and want to become a CHCR sponsor for an affordable month or more, please get in touch!
We are a community radio station. We only reflect what effort is put into our programming.
It’s up to you. Please support homegrown community radio at its most independent. We’ve been on the air for 10 years now. Don’t tune in a month from now, only to hear dead air.
We need to hear from you. Even if all you can do is pass on words of encouragement, this will mean a lot to some dedicated, driven and yes, maybe even obsessed, devoted volunteers.
CHCR is here for you.
Yours in peace and fredom,
Peter Benner

9pm: Cousin Ken’s Show hosted by Cousin Ken

What can I say that Cousin Ken can’t say on his own?

Friday Nights, 9 pm to Midnight.
Listen to my show. I’m tellin’ ya. Most Fridays I’m live, unless there’s a good band playing at a local venue, and then I’ll let our logger computer select one of my previous shows for replay. It’ll be good. I’ll play Canadian country classics, and other types of folk, roots and/or popular local tunes. You might even catch Audio Art segments, sound effects, and vintage CHCr snippets on my “Retro Replay”! Our CHCR program director has vowed never to allow “Cousin Ken’s Show” to be re-played in the daytime, due to the fact of my “non-compliance”; vis-a-vis my refusing to sign a “non-profanity content” waiver for program director. If you want to hear my show while the sun is shining and if your parents want to waltz in the kitchen, please email the program director at
And listen to my show. Watch for the repeats. Eat my bacon at our Pancake Breakfast, first Sunday of every month at the Killaloe Friendship Centre, on Lake Street, here.
Cousin Ken has a beard and ponytail, and is currently rolling a tire. Cousin Ken would like to thank “Ben’s Chip Truck” for the poutine, Al Brisco for the pedal steel guitar, and “Mike’s Tire” for the rubber.
Forget email! Send me a letter: CHCR Box 195, Killaloe, ON, Canada, K0J 2A0.

There you have it. If that intrigues you, tune in at 102.9, 104.5 FM or online at www.chcr.org.

Venus Transit’s description is “talking about feeling good”. That is what TK2000, the host, tries to stick to. Listen to her show and learn about the Mayan calendar or positive changes that are happening in the world. The music is spiritual and relaxing. Catch it on 102.9 and 104.5 FM or online at http://www.chcr.org.

Headbangers? Now “Something Else”

Wednesdays
2am: Something Else hosted by Sandman, repeat
4am: Not Sure Yet hosted by Tim Rivers-Garret, repeat
8am: Shakin the Tree hosted by The Tyler Guy, repeat
12pm: Walkin’ the Dogs hosted by Freewheelin’
2pm: PM Wednesdays hosted by Freewheelin’
5pm: Good Medicine hosted by Morning Glory
8pm: Something Else hosted by Sandman
10pm: Walkin’ the Dogs hosted by Freewheelin’, repeat

The former Headbangers show made a couple of changes in the last little while. First, it changed from Thursday nights to Wednesday nights, same time, though. This seemed to prepare for the second big change, which happened when long time Headbanger DJ Spoons, aka Tom Gougeon, left the station and the area to pursue other avenues. DJ Sandman is still going strong however, with a new partner and a new show. DJ Bubbles has joined him and the show has changed from “Headbangers” to “Something Else” as it goes through a transitional phase. Don’t worry, though. You ‘bangers out there will still get a dose of heavy metal. Catch the new show every Wednesday, 8 until 10, on 102.9, 104.5 FM or online at http://www.chcr.org.

For those new to CHCR, it is Killaloe’s own community radio station. Started ten years ago, it is slowly growing and has become a regular part of many people’s lives. Listen live at 102.9 and 104.5 FM or hear it online at http://www.chcr.org.
